Who would believe that two pieces of fruit and three stuffed toys could become a national phenomenon? And that they could produce a fun CD? Any Australian child would, because every Australian child knows and loves the Bananas in Pyjamas, and their friends the teddies.
The Bananas in Pyjamas have been on our television screens for ten years, and in honour of their tenth birthday, ABC for Kids has released some of their best loved songs on one compact disc - Bananas in Pyjamas – The Fun Collection.
As well as the well know Bananas in Pyjamas song, which was written back in 1967 and which was the source of the whole Bananas concept, there are lots of other songs which kids will know and love.
Special highlights include the Bananas Fixing Song, written by Colin Buchanan, another Australian singing sensation and a contribution from Franciscus Henry, We Like wearing Pyjamas. Even The Wiggles have contributed lyrics, with the tracks Hey There Everybody and Walking in the Park.
Kids will sing along to favourite nursery songs, including Ring-a-Ring-a-Rosey, and London bridge, and dance and jump to action songs including Bumping and a Jumping and Jump Up Spin around!
For older kids, another new release from ABC for Kids, may appeal. The Best of Franciscus Henri brings back Henri’s alter-ego, Mister Whiskers, for a riot of off-the-wall humour and zany silliness.
Kids will love songs like Baked Beans and Walking on the Milky Way, and will draw subtle lessons from others, like Give My Things Back. Henri shows an ability to relate well to children’s perspectives.
Bananas in Pyjamas: The Fun Collection and The Best of Franciscus Henri are available from ABC Music.
