DVD Review - The Pirates of Penzance

A boon for fans of Gilbert & Sullivan.



For generation, fans have sung along tohe tunes of Gilbert & Sullivan. Some of their most popular tunes come from The Pirates of Penzance, most famously performed in Australia in recent times by a cast lead by Jon English and Simon Gallaher.

When the show toured in 1994 it met with great success, and the subsequent video release made Platinum sales. Now, for the first time, ABC has released a DVD version.

Featuring English as the Pirate King and Gallaher as Frederic, along with Toni Lamond, Derek Metzger, Tim Tyler, The Fabulous Singlettes and Helen Donaldson and directed and choreographed by Craig Schaefer, The Pirates of Penzance, captures the spirit of vintage Gilbert & Sullivan.
