DVD Review: Seachange, Series 1
by Sally Murphy

Relive the fun of this outstanding television series.

Fans of the ABC's Seachange who have mourned its disappearance from our television screens will be pleased to konw that they can now buy series one of the show on DVD.

For those who are not familiar with the show, it follows the story of Laura Gibson (Sigrid Thornton), a high-powered corporate city lawyer who finds her marriage in tatters and decides it is time for a change. When offered the position of Magistrate in the town of Pearl Bay, she thinks this is just what she needs, and moves her family there.

Of course life is never dull as the city-girl turned magistrate balances life and career, dealing with the idiosyncracies of a small town.

With an outstanding cast including David Wenham (as Laura's love interest, Diver Dan), John Howard (as the town's big-man, Bob Jelly) and the superb Kerry Armstrong (his long-suffering, ditzy wife), as well as Thornton, the show manages to be both incredibly funny and yet frighteningly true to life and, where needed, sympathetic and emotional.

This classic series is available on a four DVD set from ABC Shops, ABC Centres and good videoretailers, for $99.95(rrp). An excellent addition to your collection.
