The Matrix Revolutions
Reviewed by Sally Murphy

The conclusion to the Matrix trilogy.

The first in the Matrix trilogy, The Matrix had a premise which many viewers found both uncomfortable and intriguing. Mankind has become the victim of its own technology. The machines we have created have become so smart that they now control us. Human bodies are kept in cocoons, trapped in limbo, but unaware of this fate, as an artificial reality created by the machines plays out in our dreams.

Now, in the third and final title in the series, fans get answers to some (but not all) of their questions. Neo, the hero of the frist two movies, is back, fighting for the triumph of man over machine. Finally fans will know if mankind can triumph, if Neo can survive, and the fates of Trinity, Morpheus, and Agent Smith.

Much-hyped, first in the cinemas and now with its release on DVD and VHS, The Matrix Revolutiosn is a must-see for those who have seen the first two movies, if just to round out the experience. The movie does, though, presume that viewers have watched the first two installments, so it is not recommended for those new to the series. Whilst it is worth a watch, however, Revolutions, like its predecessor, Reloaded does not match up to the success of the first movie, which had viewers squirming at its revelations of alternative realities.

Matrix Revolutions comes in a two DVD set, with the second disc devoted to features exploring the making of the movie.
