DVD Review: Get Activated
Reviewed by Sally Murphy

From the Active Kidz team - as seen on ABC TV.

With childhood obesity a growing problem in Australia, it is nice to see a DVd being released which seeks to encourage children to exercise regularly.

Active Kidz is a talented duo made up of Scott Ehler and Amy Wilkins. The pair are young and enthusiastic in their endeavours to get kids to join in. In Get Activated they present nine five-minute segments which could be watched in one viewing or individually as part of a daily exercise session.

Each five minute segment shows the duo playing a different sport before introducing a mini exercise routine. They also share information about different muscle groups and share tips and facts about fitness and the human body. The main steps in each routine are demonstrated and repeated before being included in a song. Some of the steps are repeated in other routines, meaning that children will develop the skills as they watch different episodes.

This DVD is great for kids interested in being active and could also be used in schools.

An Active Kids music CD is also available so that once kids have viewed the DVD and learnt the steps, they could do them to music away from the television.
